People are here and then they go.
Savor the here.
Recently put together a collection of poems about loss, grief, and living through trauma for grad skool. Fun! Sad boy vibes aside, it was a generative practice that had me dwelling on those themes and thinking about how writing lives with us, beyond us, and through us. Like a memory, we can return to a piece of writing when we need it spelled out again.
Want a ~writing prompt~? Remember a moment from your childhood home—write a line/sentence describing it—make some space, plenty of it—then write that line again (feel free to vary it)—then connect the two lines by writing more in between them. At first, ask yourself why you picked that scene. Before you get to the last line, consider why your brain is returning to that moment. Finish the loop.
Lucidly, Ricky
Cool poem, and I really appreciate the writing exercise! It was fun to use it on my own.
Wow! Moving poem. I feel that grief is felt deeply and can be hard to describe, but you did it so well through this story of a poem. Thanks for sharing. I’m glad I read this.
